I've been making utilitarian and sculptural works from porcelain clay in Southern Illinois for almost 50 years.  Exploring both wheel thrown and hand-built forms my shapes are anthropomorphic, animated with precise line and edges.  I use black and white incised pattern to enhance my shapes; however, I do use color from time to time to accent and embellish my forms.  Each work is a one of a kind.

I want to make work that enriches our daily lives and adds to the ceramic continuum.

Born in Brooklyn, New York I received degrees in Art from California State University, Northridge and Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan.  I taught at Southern Illinois University for over 35 years and serving as the Director for the School of Art and Design for 10.  I am a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) and a “Fellow” to National Council for Education in the Ceramic Arts (NCECA).
